Grandma’s Chocolate Fudge Cake
Grandma’s Chocolate Fudge Cake was always a hit in her house and one that she continued to make for decades. Here, I’ve brought her recipe back to share with friends, family and anybody else who wants to make a delicious chocolate fudge cake for any occasion.
Ingredients – Cake
- 115g butter
- 170g caster sugar
- 2 eggs
- 160g self-raising flour
- 10g cocoa powder
Ingredients – Chocolate Fudge Topping
- 130g icing sugar
- 30g butter
- 2 tsp cocoa powder
- 1-2 tbsp boiling water
Step 1
Pre-heat the oven to 190 degrees (fan).
Whisk the butter, sugar and eggs.
Step 2
Sift the flour and cocoa powder.
Step 3
Fold the flour and cocoa powder into the butter, sugar and egg mixture.
Step 4
Put the cake mixture in a cake tin lined with baking paper and bake for 30 to 40 minutes.
Step 5
When the cake is cooked (use a cake tester to check), allow to cool fully.
Step 6
To make the chocolate fudge topping: melt the butter and stir in sifted icing sugar and cocoa powder.
Add the boiling water 1 tbsp at a time until you have a firm yet spreadable consistency.
Step 7
Spread the chocolate fudge topping on the cake. You can also add sprinkles or chocolate curls to this (my son went for golden crunch and sugar pearls!)
Finished
Your cake is now ready to enjoy!
